An elegant 1950s sideboard / buffet from British company Vanson, designed by Peter Hayward for Heal and Son. The sideboard is figured in walnut veneer onto a teak frame with three central drawers with brass trumpet handles.

Inside the top drawer are two green baize lined cutlery drawers one designed to be taken out and brought to the table.

Two doors either side with original brass wing shaped handles over the deep storage space, fixed shelf to the left hand side and a matching shelf with a cut out ‘U Shape’ to the right hand side. The right hand side is purposed as a drinks cabinet, the u shape incorporates the bottles and the glasses sit above. Peter Hayward established his reputation as a furniture designer in the 1950s -70s. With an impressive client list that included G-Plan, Parker Knoll, Greaves & Thomas, Uniflex, Race Furniture and not forgetting Heals and Son in London. Several of his designs were selected for the Design Council and Design Index and because this acclaim represented British design in the UK and abroad until his death in 2005.
